Are you right brained or left brained?

I have always thought I was a straight down the middle kind of person – I can be extremely logical, literal and analytical, but creative and intuitive as well. I guess I’m more right brained than I thought, because for a long time I could only see this dancer spinning to the right (clockwise). Finally, after staring at it a long time, I got it to switch. It’s a really interesting optical illusion, and makes me wonder how someone goes about creating something like that. Check it out – which way do you see her spinning?

  1. I don’t believe we can segment our brain physiology that easily in right and left. Many structures are unique to connect them both, and have many fuctions such as the Calous Body.

I only believe that we have a different think rather than the rational, because when you listen to a song, you can reproduce it latter, and not even think about it, you just do it. Kind irrational huh? Maybe is our animal evidence…

i don’t think it is about being right or left brained! it is all about how you look in to it,

  3. Wayne Liew says:

It turned clockwise for me, which means I am right -brain but the cjaracteristics don’t suit me!

  4. Shantanu says:

Hmm…I can only see her going clock-wise. Too me a lot of effort to make her go anti-clock-wise. :-)

even if there is such stuff that has no importance, brain is brain and it is in your hands how well it works, you should train your brain, thats it.

Funny, I saw clockwise, looked down, back up, and other way!!!
I always thought i was in middle too :)

i still remember from the senior citizen, if you are left hander then you are using your right brain more and the other way round. im a right hander, so i guess im using my left brain often.by the way, can this be trusted in a science method?

However hard I try I can only see clockwise – weird

  9. TigerTom says:

A neat illusion. I’d dispute the inference that you can tell so much about a person from it. I suspect it’s linkbait, as I’ve seen the illusion before, without the psychobabble.

  10. Randa says:

That’s probably a pretty good assessment TigerTom. I find it interesting that they say that most people see it going anti-clockwise, however most people who have looked at it see her going clockwise at first.

  11. Char says:

Ouch – that made my brain hurt. I saw it going clockwise to start and then when I looked away and looked back it was going the opposite way.

  12. Poster Maniac says:

alamak..both way also i can’t look at it too long la…it makes me feel faint if im putting too much attention on the thing. what happen to me? am i normal in this case?

I think the whole concept is more of a metaphor than a physiological reality.

actually does it make a big differance whether im right or left brained? i guess im left brained since im right handed. i heard other people said, if you are right handed then you are left brained.

  15. That’s some crazy stuff. I saw her going clockwise at first but figured out how to switch her and got to the point where I could switch her whenever I wanted. The trick is to watch her foot and the reflection of her foot.

  16. Watch Heroes Online says:

I see it spinning in clockwise, i’ve tried to look at the dancer a couple days and to see some changes, but none. After all it remains that i’m right brained!

  17. Michael says:

Weird, she was going anti-clockwise, then I read the text looked back and now clockwise.

In fact I can get her to go in each direction, read the text one way, concentrate only on the reflection and the other way.

  18. I could only see her going clockwise. I’m left-handed. I don’t know if that makes a difference. Also she was a pretty good looking lady so I was a little hypnotized!

  19. Max says:

Interesting. I saw her spinning right immediately, but then I scrolled page down , and up again and she was spinning left. I was scrolling back up really slow and she was spinning left until I opened up the whole image… as soon as the head was visible – she flipped right back to the clockwise spin. Pretty cool.. kinda messes with your head.

  20. Max says:

… well, I guess I was looking at it long enough, so now I actually can see it spinning both ways very easily. Still, right is dominating since sometimes it flips back to the right uncontrollable.

    Mind-Bending Visuals …

What do you think of modern, cutting-edge, sci-fi artwork? Of how contemporary artists push the human form into almost mechanistic representations? Like this, for example: Bizzarie di Varie Figure – 1624 Braccelli, Giovanni Battista – author Yes, that…

  22. catnapping says:

i’m left-handed, but 99% of the time, it’s been clockwise for me. the couple of minutes yesteday that i got it to turn the other way…must’ve been a fluke.
