Link Love and Eye Candy

My friend and genius designer Natalie Jost has a new site called TwitterPatterns, which has lots of free backgrounds for your Twitter page (check mine out). There are even some great “pink for October” patterns! She is also selling some beautiful brushes and patterns on her OliveManna site that you should definitely check out if you’re a Photoshop user.

Fellow Perfomancing Hive member, Sid Savara recently reviewed a new virtual assistant service that offers unlimited tasks for just $59 a month.  Take a look a the article not only for an interesting review of the service, but also for an excellent example of how to write a review article. He is clear, easy to read, offers visual aids and very thorough.

Just a side note…  what do you think about the above service business model?  If you’re in the virtual assistance business, does it concern you?

A great post from Char: 5 Easy Ways to Market Yourself Online

I recently did some work modifying the premium WordPress theme One Theme for a client, and found it to be an excellent theme right out of the box.  There are many options for layout, featured posts, header and logo customization and ad management in the admin panel, and without any custom modifications at all you can have a very sharp looking site.

And finally, some more recent work of mine: two sites still a bit in development, but nearly finished, and I have really enjoyed working on them with some wonderful clients.

I was wondering about One-Theme. The screenshots of the admin area looked very promising. Good to hear that you had a good experience with it.

I really like the look of the One-Theme. I need to give my relatively new and first blog a revamp and was looking at the Revolution theme. The website that is selling the One-Theme gives a decent overview of its capabilities unlike the Revolution. This has finally swung my decision to go ahead and get fully immersed in my new blogging project.
    Thanks for heads-up.

  4. The virtual assistant industry seems to be climbing rapidly these days. It’s definitely something I am becoming more interested in as my businesses begin to grow, and Sid’s review gave some great insight into what to expect.

  5. Oops! Randa, I think you linked the wrong site to this part:

Some BEAUTIFUL sites with backgrounds that those with large monitors will particularly enjoy.

The “One Theme” design is absolutely fabulous. Too bad I’m still saving in my budget for a quality theme worth that much cash.

TwitterPatters had some lovely looking backgrounds. Thanks for the post! :)

Nice! Thanks for this tidbit, Randa. I love your wallpaper. I haven’t yet become a Twitter-ite, but now I’m tempted…

I really do agree with buying high end professional themes instead of designing your own. Customizations are good for uniqueness but there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. The really good designs have been fine tuned over time so that the buyers won’t have to go through the same hassles.

Thanks for including the info about Sid’s research. I keep thinking I’ll try a VA but never do and his article made me think about it again.
