Blogstravaganza Day 3 – Amazon.com Gift Certificates

It’s Day 3 and time for more prizes! Today Deb Ng of Freelance Writing Jobs is kindly offering a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate to one lucky reader!

fwj

Freelance Writing Jobs is an amazing network of blogs about writing, networking, business tips, and of course job hunting. It’s not just for those who called themselves “freelance writers” though. Anyone who blogs is a writer and I’ve learned a lot from the articles on the site. You’ll definitely want to check it out, and while you’re there you’ll want to pick up a copy of Deb’s new e-book called Beyond Blogging: Using Your Blogging Skills for Bigger and Better Things.

Since Amazon is my favorite place to shop, I’m going to throw in another $25 gift certificate today! So, I’ll randomly choose two winners from the comments below. For this prize, in your comments, I’d like a little feedback. Is there anything you’d like to learn how to do? My favorite thing to post are tutorials- what would you like to learn more about? Be sure and leave your comment before Wednesday, February 4th midnight US central time and make sure the email field in the form has a valid email address of course. Good luck!

The thing I must like to learn, by tutorial, is how to:
    - Having an image, how to round its corners, maintaining its size, in way to put it as a blog header, and using GIMP.
    - How to change that header in a wordpress blog
    - Finally, how to use GIMP to stretch an image without loose to much quality (what original image resolutions made it possible to stretch or shrink in a factor of 5, 10, 20)

If possible, all this in the same article / tutorial, and some more that you decide to add, related with.

    Thank you.

Now, who wouldn’t like an Amazon gift certificate?

I would love to know how to make that frilly, flowery stuff that you have on the edge of your blog–but it may be impossible for someone with my lack of artistic talent. :)

    Thanks for a great blog!

I love your blog. You have some very interesting tutorials here. I would like to learn how to put an “icon” in front of the URL. Something unique, like your little square thing up there.
    Thank you :)

I would love to read more tutorials on how to develop WordPress themes, an never get enough of those. Especially how to translate a Photoshop mockup into code.
Also, everything to do with Photoshop in general, how to achieve certain effects. There’s always something new to learn in Photoshop. :)

I would like to enter this competition as there is an item on amazon for learning music that my daughter would love for her birthday.

My suggestion for learning is something i don’t think you will need to research as it is something you do anyway.

Getting the most out of mybloglog for promoting blogs and activities going on there.
    Technorati
    Blogernity
    Del.icio.us
    Stumbleupon
    Digg

    etc
Hope you enjoy your competition as much as we have coming up with the things we’d like to know more about.

Tutorials are some of my favorite posts, too, and sometimes it just takes someone asking a question to spark one. I would love to see you do a tutorial on using any of your favorite plugins, retrofitting a theme to utilize some of wp2.7’s features, and one on some of the trickier css concepts.

Amazon is my favorite place to shop, too, so of course, I’d love to win!

I was thinking maybe I could print out some of your wordpress themes, put them under my pillow and wake up knowing how to create my own. I tried it but the rustling kept me awake.

    Oo giveaways are fun!

As someone who usually just uses already created WP themes, I’d like to learn how to create my own or at least find a good place to start the process.

Speaking from the perspective of the nonprofit community, any tutorials on using technology (blogs, social media, etc.) to create and and maintain online relationships with our donors and constituents would be greatly appreciated.

Also, any tips on monetizing our website without appearing mercenary :-) . Thanks.

  13. Randa

I’m loving all these suggestions. Keep ‘em coming!

@Greg – you totally cracked me up. Thanks for the laugh!

I’d love to read how you use Wordpress as CMS for your clients, any tricks that you could share with us.
I’ve got a long list of books to buy, so Amazon’s gift certificate would come very handy ;)
I’m just not sure if I can use it for amazon.ca as well.

  15. Kim Woodbridge

Definitely tutorials on theme creation. I’m with Greg – trying to absorb them in my sleep doesn’t work at all.

  16. Chris
