Wondering what to buy that person in your life who is addicted to the computer and blogging?  Christmas is just around the corner and I have some ideas for you:

Journal

Every blogger needs someplace to jot down their thoughts and plan out blog posts. There’s something about getting away from the computer and sitting down with a journal that helps get the flow of ideas started.  This leather journal from Kiki James is one I recently received and it is simply beautiful.  The cover is a soft, buttery leather and the pages have almost a handmade paper feel to them.  They have a variety of colors and styles- I got the pink one.  The paper is unlined, so it’s nice for doodling design ideas as well as scribbling notes.

ProBlogger Book

ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income is required reading for anyone who is new to blogging, as well as those who have been doing it for years. Just take a look at this story of what one experienced blogger learned from the book and the difference it made in her career and life. I’ve read the book and highly recommend it.

T-Shirt

How about a blogging t-shirt?  The WiFi Detector t-shirt is genius!

Membership to a Forum or Training Program

The gift that keeps on giving- a membership to Performancing Hive or Authority Blogger would make any blogger happy.

Anti-Glare Filter for the Computer Screen

Staring at the computer for hours and hours can be very hard on the eyes.  An anti-glare filter screen is a perfect gift for computer addicts.

Desk Lamp

Good lighting at one’s desk is essential. I have this one from Target and it’s beautiful.

Ergonomic Keyboard and Mouse

I have this awesome Microsoft wireless keyboard and optical mouse and I LOVE it. The keyboard is not SO ergonomic that it’s difficult to use, but it just has a little curve to it that makes it much more comfortable.

Caffeine

Coffee is always a great gift for those who drink it.  If the person you’re buying for is not a coffee drinker, then how about some candy?  I hear that Shock-A-Lots are awesome, and this caffeine candy sampler is pretty cool too.

A Massage

Sitting in front of the computer for a long time can lead to a stiff neck and shoulders, and bloggers are notoriously bad about getting away from the desk to loosen up a bit.  A massage would definitely be a welcome gift.

What about you? What do you want for Christmas?

I see a lot of people endorsing the problogger book. I bought it. I read it. I don’t recommend buying it. It takes a long time to build a reputation as a blogger and there are zero secrets in the book to help. Be consistent, respond to everyone that asks you questions in a timely manner. Post on a schedule and keep to it. Don’t spam (doi), don’t steal content (double doi). There is a big difference between blogs that have little blog catalog widgets and blogs with over 1000 unique users on it a week. That difference is usually quality content. Garbage sinks to it’s own level. Get the book from the library if you must read everything related to SEO - Cheers.

I think a new blackberry or iphone may be a useful addition to any blogger. Why stop blogging when you are on the move. If you live in a big city then I am sure you spend hours every day on the tube or buses travelling. This time can be used effectively in blogging on the move. But then again maybe most bloggers already have this.

Thanks for the mention. I know there’s a lot of mixed reviews on the Problogger book, but I think if you pick it up, read it as a tool that you mix with your own skills it will work. If you buy it thinking it’s going to be the answer to be all and end all - all the way to the bank, you’ve got another thing coming.

There is NO easy way to become rich on the net. Everything I’ve done, I’ve put so many hours and a lot of heart and soul into every single project. Those are two very key ingredients and without them, well, it just mixes up a batch of good old fashioned failure.

I definitely want the leather journal ‘coz my fingers are itching to touch the ‘buttery leather.’ And a massage–but not on the neck. My regular shoulder and arms stretching takes care of those pains. I like a massage on my hips, thighs, and legs. The journal is a very good idea. It’s one that seems fairly obvious, since blogging is can be considered an electronic journal, but it’s something that I hadn’t thought of.

I agree that it is a good idea to get away from the computer every once and a while. When you sit in front of the computer twenty-four-seven you start being unable to focus. Sometimes sitting out back or in a park and actually writing is usually a great thing to clear your head.

I’ve read the Probloggers book. I wasn’t terribly impressed, though I have to admit I am somewhat of a veteran on the Internet so there weren’t really any secrets or new information in there for me. For the beginner, it’s a good start.

My favorite idea on that list is the massage. My wife bought me a membership at Massage Envy (I think it’s a national franchise) last year for Christmas and I love it. I get at least one massage a month, sometimes more. It’s by far the best thing for me. Not only does it help my body, but it gives me that hour to just unwind and brainstorm a little without my cell phone ringing or my inbox beeping from new mail.

I would really want the next three things for Christmas:
    1) Membership to a Forum or Training Program; I really want to become a great blogger for the next year.
2)Anti-Glare Filter for the Computer Screen; My eyes are screaming out loud that they need something like this!
    3) A Massage: sitting in front the computer for 15 hours a day is killing me! I think this is what I most need.
So if someone need a virtual friend to buy some gifts just let me know!
    Best Regards! Nice Ideas!

Yeah very funny as if bloggers are not really people but some sort of special beings and all they do is sit in from of pc (or apple, pardon Apple) and write, write, write. Here’s your caffeine, here’s your massage, here’s your blogger’s bible, write and enjoy until the end of electricity.

But if I’m to be real, for a blogger as serious as Randa the best present would be a trip to the very beautiful and high mountains, say for week. Imagine a new energy, new photos, new wows that would come out of this trip!
