2006 was, according to some, the year that the number of words in the English language reached 1 million. No wonder it’s the most difficult language to learn next to Chinese. Below are some of my favorite new words or phrases. I’m sure they’re not all in the dictionary yet, but it won’t be long in coming.
Zomblog: Slang for zombie blog, a site that should be buried with dignity, but stumbles around the web, half-dead and ghoulish. (from Nick Denton)
Bluetooth fairy: a person who walks around with the blinking glow of a Bluetooth headset permanently in one ear. (from the nytimes)
Mouse Potato: a person who spends a great deal of time using a computer (in the pictorial dictionary, my picture is next to this definition) (from Merriam-Webster online)
Ohnosecond: That minuscule fraction of time in which you realize that you’ve just made a BIG mistake. (from Dangerous Logic)
