Never leave your kids alone with YouTube

Sep 10

Jack has recently enjoyed watching YouTube videos. I put in a search for him like “Laurie Berkner”, his favorite singer, or Selah, who we listen to a lot in the car, and he can click on the related videos and surf around watching Sesame Street, Noggin, etc. videos to his heart’s content. I just discovered that as he was listening to his favorite song over and over, he decided to click the Share button instead of the Replay button and through a series of clicks, he ended up actually posting the video to this blog! All I did was add the title afterwards. I was going to take it down, but then I figured it was too funny and I should leave it up. Jack (and I) have listened to this song at least 1,000 times in the last year- I’m not even exaggerating. I know all the words and it’s in Swahili.

(Seriously though, you can’t really leave your kids alone with YouTube, because you never know when the related videos are going to be something you don’t want them to see. Even surfing the Sesame Street videos, there will eventually be ones that are not so nice.)

  1. Jack, you did a good job – I like seeing people to go along with your song.
