Jack and I now have some company during the day, aside from my Dad being around more and more now that it’s getting colder putting a “chill” on his golfing and lawn care business. Emily Rae is now staying with us until early afternoon. I have known this was coming for months, but was somehow a little concerned that it would be difficult to manage as Jack is rather a handful. But, as it turns out, it’s working out fine. It certainly helps that Emily is a very easy baby and a champion sleeper. Laura & Charlie are very blessed with Emily, to say the least, but in that regard in particular. Jack had a hard time getting through the night until he was at last 5 months old. Not because he was hungry necessarily, but because, as I figured out too late, that he just wasn’t “snuggly” enough in his wide open crib, even swaddled. I ended up putting him to sleep in his carseat one night because he had a really stuffy nose and he slept through the night without a peep. He slept for a couple of months in the magic carseat, with the appropriately named “Noggin Nest” to keep him from getting a flat head.

Anyway… it turns out that I can manage two for the time that she’s here, though I really wonder how people do it who have multiple children under the age of 4 or so!

The guy who owned the coffee shop in the town where I went to college had an amazing story. He and his wife had, at one time, five children under the age of four. That included two sets of twins.
