Internet Explorer Apostate

Sep 08

Part of developing web sites is making sure they display correctly in not only Internet Explorer, but other browsers as well. I had Firefox on my computer for that reason, but never really paid much attention to it until I ran across some information about Firefox being safer and easier to use. So, I thought I would seriously try using it for a couple of days just to see what the fuss was about. I am now a complete convert, and I would like to recommend to all to give it a try as well.

There are lots of reasons I like it, but I’ll give you my main one, and then send you to this site to read all the other very good reasons to switch. The best thing about Firefox is the tabbed browsing feature. How many times are you reading in one article/website that has a link to another site(s) that you’re interested in? In Firefox, you can right click on the link, and choose Open Link in New Tab, or, even easier, hold down Cntl while clicking on it. It opens in the background of the same window you’re working in in a new tab for you to read later. This is so much better than the Internet Explorer’s “open in new window” option when right-clicking on a link, which jumps you to the new page immediately. Not to mention, if you’re like me, and have multiple things going on at once, it keeps the number of browser windows open in the Taskbar to a minimum. And, since I always have about 5 programs running at once, taskbar real estate is important to me.

Ok… I’ve rambled on about this long enough. Try Firefox. If you don’t like it, just uninstall it. Post a comment here and tell us what you think about it.

  1. Scott LOVES Firefox, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work with whatever program Acaza is designed with. :o(

  2. I was a devout Firefox user until I started working for the government, which only has IE installed on its PCs. I look forward with great anticipation to the day when I can go back to the Fox!
