Mom, Laura, Aunt Neva and Emily & Benjamin are here to visit! Neva brought some battery operated cars that her neighbor was giving away and the kids are so excited. Emily was in her car, and Jack asked if he could drive. Emily said no offered the passenger seat, and Jack said in a disappointed voice, “but I’m an excellent driver!”

Mom, Laura, Emily and Benjamin visited with us last week. This is a picture of the only quiet moment that occurred during the visit:

No one is arguing. No one is screaming. Everyone is playing quietly….

We had a great visit with them. Two older kids argued about everything that could be argued about, but that is only to be expected from bossy firstborn children and they had a good time playing together in spite of it. It was great to get to know happy little Ben now that he’s old enough to be interactive, and David enjoyed bringing him toys to play with and patting his head.

Fun at the T-Bone Ranch

We went to Middle-O-Nowhere Texas last weekend for a family reunion that was held at a ranch owned by a member of the family. A great time was had by all, and we especially enjoyed all the animals.

This guy interrupted my singing at our little Sunday morning service. Sorry, that’s “Shall we gather at the river”, not “Shall we gobble at the river,” thank you very much.

We rode around in the back of the feeder truck while cousin Travis fed his many and varied groups of animals. Jack was impressed. David was sleepy.

New Site

I’ve started a new blog. Actually I started it a couple of months ago, but haven’t mentioned it until now because I wasn’t totally sure what I was going to do with it. “Lumps of Clay” is a blog for friends and family for the most part. It’s never gotten much traffic (not that I cared) and I’ve never really advertised it much because it’s not all that interesting to people who don’t know us, and frankly there’s a lot of personal information on the site I’d rather not broadcast as I become more and more well known in the online world. But… I’ve sort of been wanting a regular personal blog to go along with my professional site, on a regular domain name that might actually draw some readers. The domain name matters if you want to have a site of any consequence and randaclay.com/lumps is not a good domain name because it’s just a sub-folder off of my main site… blah, blah, blah… probably more than you wanted to know about that. So, on a whim, I registered HonestlyCrazy.com and if you’d like to take a peek, feel free.

On the new site, be aware that sometimes I write in the slightly exaggerated style that I find so amusing on some of the “mommy blogs” I read. Part of the reason I haven’t mentioned the site here, is that I know I have a tendency to complain too much about how challenging it’s been to manage Jack, and I could just picture some of you reading my posts, and thinking, “there goes Randa, complaining about her kids again.” LOL But, in the end, I began to feel silly not as least mentioning it as there are things like the vintage posters I bought for the boys’ room this weekend that I wanted to show y’all, but I’m not going to post in both places.

Thanks, as always, for visiting us here in this little corner of the web. We have so many friends and family that we’re separated from. We miss you all and appreciate being able to connect with you in whatever way we can.

We’re visiting Mom & Dad, along with other family south of San Antonio at what has become their winter home, and the house comes complete with some toys for Jack to play with. Among the toys are some Bible action figures which I find to be rather odd. The Jesus figure is particularly disturbing. Should we be buying action figures of the Son of God? Is it a good toy simply because it’s biblical? I was curious, and looked on Amazon. Turns out there are various Jesus dolls there are to choose from, such as the Deluxe Miracle Jesus(complete with glow in the dark hands). There are talking Noah and Moses dolls, Samson, Esther, etc. Actually, all of those sound fine, but somehow a Jesus action figure just seems wrong.

David @ 6 Months

David learned to roll both ways this month, allowing him to roll across the floor, rarely staying where we put him. Not that we put him down much, because our sweet boy wants to be held most of the time. He will play a little while in the exersaucer or in one of his seats with some toys, but all things being equal, he’d rather sit in your lap.

We worked on eating cereal more this month, with mostly this result:

His main trouble seems to be that if you’re looking at him he is smiling so much, he forgets about what’s in his mouth!
