One book….
Aug 18
I have been “tagged” by Emily Cavanaugh. I’ve seen this on other blogs, but never been tagged myself! (if you’re not familiar with the term, it just means there are a series of questions that you have to answer, and then tag three other people). This is one of those things that will inevitably reveal how much more spiritual everyone else is than me. ;c) See what I mean, here, here and here. Anyway, here goes…
1. One book that changed my life: To Train Up a Child, by Michael & Debi Pearl. The theology is a bit lacking, but the ideas about child training are absolutely great, and caused me to think about it in a whole new way. (The Bible is the obvious one here, but I’ll save it for another question.)
2. One book that I’ve read more than once: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis.
3. One book I’d want on a desert island: the B-I-B-L-E (yes that’s the book for me)
4. One book that made me laugh: The Egg and I, by Betty MacDonald
5. One book that made me cry: How to Cook Everything, by Mark Bittman. (those doggone onions!)
6. One book I wish I had written: Anne of Green Gables, by L.M. Montgomery.
7. One book I wish had never been written: The Koran.
8. One book I am currently reading: At Home in Mitford, by Jan Karon.
9. One book I’ve been meaning to read: The Christian Mind, by Harry Blamires.
Let’s see… do I even know three people who have a blog, who have not been tagged yet, who like to read? I don’t! I guess the buck stops here!
I love the Mitford books! I was just telling Jeff about them on Saturday when we went to the National Cathedral (there was a whole shelf of the books in the gift shop). I think it’s fabulous that she published these books with a mainstream publishing house and still presents the gospel in such a winsome manner. And the characters are so endearing!
