Jack @ 3 Years 6 Months Old
Jan 23
This is Jack’s favorite expression lately. I get this look about 100 times a day when he gets upset about something not going his way. I’ve begun punishing him for arguing when I’ve already said no, so he feels his only recourse is to assume the most angry look he can muster and get in my face so I can see how frustrated he is.
Jack has begun telling us when he is ready for bed at night. After so many nights of fighting about whether it’s bedtime or not, it is so strange to hear him say “I’m tired, I’m ready for bed.”
Looks like he’s going to have to deal with carsickness. Playing with his Leapster or looking at a book has suddenly begun making him feel like he’s going to throw up. This is no surprise since I got sick if I tried to read while in the back seat of a car, and it’s a very good thing that he enjoys listening to music because he can put his headphones on and listen to an mp3 player and be perfectly content for any length of car ride.
We’ve been down south of San Antonio for a couple of weeks visiting with my snowbird parents and other aunts and uncles, and since I didn’t want to have to clean up any throw up on the way, I was extra cautious about the carsickness and gave Jack some Dramamine before we got on the road. Dramamine is my new favorite magic pill. Jack slept for a couple of the 6 hours and the time he was awake he barely made a sound. If you’ve ever been around Jack for more than 5 minutes or so, you know how unusual that is because making noise is like breathing to him.
He is in a particularly stubborn stage. I hope he outgrows it, but I’m not holding my breath. If he says it, it’s right and it doesn’t matter what you tell him or show him, he will not let go of it. Most of the time I don’t bother arguing with him, but now and then I am able to convince him he’s wrong. When that happens, I make him say “You were right Mom, and I was wrong,” because I feel it the duty of the mother of sons to teach them to say that. Their future wives will thank me someday.
I think I have seen that look before at my house! :)Too bad you went to years and months. I was looking forward to the post when Jack graduates from high school. “Jack at 216 months!” HaHa
That face makes me laugh. Tell Jack his face will get stuck that way if he does it more than once a day. hee hee
