The I Follow “Movement”

I decided I’d like to have something in my sidebar indicating to my future readers that I’ve turned off the nofollow in my comments, and I thought others might be interested as well. So, I’ve set up a page that has the little logo you see to the right in several different colors and some CSS code that would work well if you weren’t interested in a graphic. What do you think? I think if you Digg this post, we could spread the “movement” to more than just the small (but growing) list of bloggers who are already on board*:

UPDATE: I appreciate all who have requested to be added to this list, but the list is now closed and I will be making no more additions to it. Thanks!

*Naturally, this list is too large to be kept up to date as to who has continued to follow comments.

Sounds like a good idea, but I think that a Web 2.0 style logo would be the tip of the iceberg for this movement! I wonder whether that could be arranged?

    Well Randa,

Did you ever think when you first came up with your logo’s that they things would go this far. Since I left my comment on April 14th (the fourth one from th top) I’ve gotten anywhere from 4-8 comment notifications a day since then.

You’re turning into a regular “IFollow” legend around here. :D

  7. Randa says:

@ Kirk – I never thought it would be this widespread, no. My page rank is up to 5 and my Technorati rank jumped by 100,000 almost. That’s not all due to I Follow, but a lot of it is. Makes me want to come up with another idea!

@Jo – you can set the options to whatever works for you. I usually moderate my comments within a day of them being left, so that works for me. :)

I have turned off the nofollow a while ago, but just added you logo on my sidebar. I like the idea of sharing Google juice.

  30. boomstik says:

I think this is a great idea, not that I don’t see the merits in nofollow – but it is not a “silver bullet” and should only be used on untrusted links. Hence my 24hrs period when all new links have nofollow applied (long enough for me to check for obvious spam!)
